In Australia on average 110 people die from Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) every year.

I’m participating in Darkness to Daylight (D2D) - a 110km run - where each kilometre represents one of those lives lost. It’s a long distance, it’s physically and mentally demanding but knowing the funds raised go towards DFV prevention makes it all worth it.

I would very much appreciate your support because together we can end domestic and family violence.

Day 21

Monday 25th Apr

Getting home in the evenings, from work or after an evening work working from home is a 'just in time before dark' thing now! The skies have been truly spectacular and the mornings also got that lovely fresh feel. I've really enjoyed the walking and thinking and walking and thinking, and appreciate the opportunity to do something small for something really important in the process. Only another few days to go now.

Day 18 - Woorim to Mermaid Lagoon Bribie

Monday 18th Apr

Like a lot of beaches between Sunshine Coast and northern New South Wales, they are incredibly long! You honestly can't see the end of them and as you think you are getting close, you realise you aren't... it was practically a full 10K each way from Woorim to as far as you go... I made it to a fresh water lagoon just off the sand about 1K short... sore heels from the sand! Beautiful blustery day again, where the light and darkness play... ironically.

Day 17 Buderim to Pt Cartwright

Saturday 16th Apr

Nothing like walking to the beach :) to a lighthouse actually…. Blustery beautiful afternoon…kind of blown along from Buderim down the hill 10K or so to Point Cartwright.

Day 14 Pre Easter

Thursday 14th Apr

Great round trip into the office in the CBD today and back home, see route below for anyone that likes feasible round trips, now the weather is cooling it's easier. On the way back along Enoggera Creek I took a picture at low tide. It's amazing when you look closely what you notice, and how much of a story that tells that wouldn't otherwise be noticed when your viewpoint is drawn to where it normally is... same for family and domestic violence... it's often in the small things and details that help to see and understand the real situation.

Day 11 - City River Night Walk

Monday 11th Apr

Coming up for the hundred kilometre mark, what better way to spend a Saturday night then clocking up a few kilometres around the city centre and watching all the great things that people do… The most beautiful scenes and a truly lovely walk, check out the map for the circuit… It is lovely to see people enjoying life and in the spirit of this fundraiser, sure don’t we all deserve to be at liberty to do so…

Day 5

Monday 4th Apr

I’ll give you all a bit of a break after this post but this is an example of how I am managing to start and then the day walking…, I do the little spin in the morning down to my local park which is lovely way to wake up and then catch my favourite Translink bus from around the corner straight to the front door at work, and then find a way to walk home… This time towards the story Bridge and along the river boardwalk to new farm and back up through fortitude Valley… It’s not a short spin but it’s flat and even and amazing eye candy along the way :)

Day 4

Sunday 3rd Apr

Living close to the Brisbane CBD, I tend to do walking pretty close to where I live... Here is a pic coming into Downey Park this evening at 5 pm, the daylight is starting to pare back so by the time I get home it’s getting dark already… For those who know this park was absolutely hammered in the floods and it’s great to see it now being able to be used by everybody, walking dogs, running, playing sport again… A neat five or so kilometres pan down to the Kelvingrove Road and back…

Saturday 2nd Apr

Can't beat beach walking as a way to get started. Amazing light, salty air, and super peaceful. It's a 10k stretch from Meriton at Surfers down to the headland at Miami for anyone who'll be out that way and walking.

Thursday 31st Mar

Well, I am a single mum with three teenagers and I've learned the importance of respect, peace, care and consideration during difficult times, and actually at all times. I also VERY MUCH like walking and I haven't fund raised for this charity before, so no time like the present! Your support for a great goal will be very much appreciated, thank you.
