My target 110 kms
Whoa, We're (more than) Half Way There! 71kms down, 39 to go, $1,389 Raised!
First of all, I just want to say how heartwarming it is to know that so many of my family members and and work friends understand the need to ensure that the services provided by Australia's CEO Challenge will continue to be available to those in need.
Since it's National Domestic Violence Awareness month, I've taken the opportunity to read a lot of online stories that have been written by survivors and sufferers of DFV. Their stories are real and raw and are at times hard to read but they give you a real appreciation of the different types of domestic violence and the signs of DFV might present in people close to you.
According to Qld Police statistics, there were 1,364 breaches of domestic violence order offences on the Sunshine Coast in the period October 2019 to July 2020. Senior Sergeant Bradly who was instrumental in establishing the region's Vulnerable Persons Unit said "the (domestic violence protection) orders are flooding in but equally are the breaches, which represent in my view, our failure". I tend to agree. I can only imagine how many children are attached to those 1,364 cases.
Whilst there is so much work to do, I appreciate you supporting a charity that is throwing everything at supporting victims of DFV and rolling out programs to cut DFV off at the pass.
Thanks again for your support. Our collective message is loud and clear; violence is not ok, NOT NOW, NOT EVER!
Will keep you posted on my progress

Please sponsor me to help raise funds to stamp out domestic violence in the Darkness to Daylight Challenge!
I have witnessed firsthand the impact that domestic violence can have on a family. Immediate support needs to be available for women and children fleeing violent situations. It's important to remember that domestic violence is not limited to physical abuse but also financial and emotional abuse. Unfortunately for some, the threat has become more real due to Covid and lockdowns.
I am walking alongside our CEO and the Unitywater team with the goal of us walking 110km individually in the month of October. By sponsoring our team, you will directly help raise much needed funds to create more awareness about domestic violence, ensuring safe refuges for women and children remain open and fund early intervention via educational programs.
Every 1km in the 110km challenge represents on average a woman, child or man's life lost to Domestic and Family Violence each year. Together we are running through the night (or month) to bring Domestic and Family Violence out of the Darkness and into the Daylight.
With your support we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by Domestic and Family Violence, and help end the cycle of violence.
