My target 110 kms

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page for the Darkness to Daylight Challenge!

In Australia on average 110 people die from Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) every year.

I’m participating in Darkness to Daylight (D2D) - a 110km run - where each kilometre represents one of those lives lost. It’s a long distance, it’s physically and mentally demanding but knowing the funds raised go towards DFV prevention makes it all worth it.

I would very much appreciate your support because together we can end domestic and family violence.

My Updates

It starts with me

Thursday 20th May
In Australia on average 110 people die from Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) every year. This year, I pledge a strong message of accountability and responsibility. A message that says "It starts with me". This year, as with the last, I continue to take steps to honour lives lost or traumatised by domestic, family and sexual violence.

"It starts with me" is a message that I hope sticks. As a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister--prevention is key and it starts at home. It starts with how we raise our children and shape their values and awareness. It starts with how we treat others and enforce gendered stereotypes on what it means to be a man or a woman. It starts with how we recognise and respond to situations that make us feel 'sick to the stomach' but finding the courage to speak up or take action can be challenging. "It starts with me" is just that though...it's about challenging these root causes in a safe and respectful manner.

I hope to drive community awareness and intervention to help prevent #DFV and while my main message is not to ask for donations (though welcome), sharing this message is one way to support this cause or donate to the Darkness to Daylight challenge to support victims. https://lnkd.in/gxhWcDw
