My Activity Tracking

My target 150 kms

Once again I am fundraising page for the Darkness to Daylight Challenge!

In Australia on average 110 people die from Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) every year.

I’m participating in Darkness to Daylight (D2D) - a 110km run - where each kilometre represents one of those lives lost. It’s a long distance, it’s physically and mentally demanding but knowing the funds raised go towards DFV prevention makes it all worth it. I am planning this year to run 3KM's on the day (31st May), but have an overall month goal of 150KM's for the whole of May.

I would very much appreciate your support because together we can end domestic and family violence.

My Updates

Tuesday 28th Jun

A few weeks ago my work colleagues did a Darkness to Daylight Challenge, for the month of May and our team ran or walked a combined massive 740kms.

The  initial goal was to virtually get to a holiday destination somewhere in Australia. We also had an additional goal where we thought we may get to the beautiful island of Fiji…. However we clearly had some hiccups (Covid anyone?) along the way…. so lucky we didn’t try for Fiji or we would have drowned somewhere in the middle of the Coral Sea near New Caledonia.

However, as we decided to stay on dry land we did reach the holiday destination of Dingo Roadhouse - The Dingo Roadhouse is open 24/7 on the Capricorn Highway in Queensland and offers meals, coffee, showers, accommodation, truck stop, ATM and friendly service.

3 of us officially entered the actual Darkness to Daylight Challenge 2022 as part of the QAS fundraising Team, and ran/walked an impressive virtual race of over 600KMs! but I became the sole fundraiser for my team, as I decided to do my final 3KM leg from the cold darkness of Brisbane CBD to daylight today (June 28th ) at the live event..

Here is me at the finish…and yes it was a bit cold!

P&P raised $241 (so far) and QAS overall is $6423.

Thanks to Donna for the P&P stats above!

Thanks for all those who participated and donated towards a good cause from P&P….there is still time if you are impressed with our efforts and want to donate to a very worthy cause! Here is the link one again… or use link below to donate to QAS as a whole..

Monday 30th May
Due to high winds the event has been moved to z June 28th! Meantime I’ll keep walking!

Thursday 26th May
A big thank you to all those who have donated so far...I have managed to reach my initial goal of 150KMs but now on for the 200! and busy organising Tuesday when I'll be at the 3KM start in person! Will put some pictures on once Im able....

Tuesday 3rd May
So its begun and so far I have clocked 14.6KM, or 20,839 steps.....may aim is to at a minimum do 10,000 steps but try and push that as much as possible! Then do try and get my jogging ability to run 3KMs without stopping, may seem easy to many of you but I am not a runner! (yet)

Thank you to my Sponsors
